Martin Luther King Jr. Day Ecumenical Service

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Ecumenical Service will take place virtually on Monday, Jan. 18. The public can tune in here on the Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs (HHOMA) Facebook page at 9:30 a.m. or from WV Public Broadcasting, the West Virginia Channel at 8 p.m.The King Center in Atlanta set the 2021 King Holiday theme as “The Urgency of Creating the Beloved Community.” This theme will be showcased throughout the 2021 commemoration. This year’s commemoration features keynote speaker Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic, the Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity and department chair of Sociology, Criminology, and Criminal Justice at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.“We invite everyone to join us online and hear from our accomplished keynote speaker, Dr. Howard-Bostic, and all other extraordinary participants of the service.” said Commission Chair and HHOMA Executive Director Jill Upson. “You can also virtually applaud the winners of the Living the Dream awards, which recognize those whose service and lives have exemplified the principles and ideals of Dr. King.”
