The West Virginia University Health System – East (also known as WVUH-East) has provided Berkeley County with a unified healthcare system. Part of WVUH-East, Berkeley Medical Center
in Martinsburg is a non-profit community hospital, licensed for 260 hospital beds (staffed for 144) and offering a variety of medical, surgical, and healthcare services. Berkeley Medical Center is one of the area’s largest employers, with over 900 full and part-time employees. The hospital provides programming and educational events for the community, including support groups, CPR and first aid classes, and birthing classes. The Dorothy A. McCormack Center, located on the Berkeley Medical Center campus, is home to several outpatient departments, including a cancer center and rehabilitation services. In addition, the McCormack Center houses a public fitness center with personal trainers, exercise equipment and wellness programs.
Spring Mills Medical Center
a partnership of WVU Medicine and University Care Physicians now offers North Berkeley County residents a state of the art urgent care center and medical office space for support services such as women’s imaging center and lab/X-ray services.
West Virginia University Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division is an integrated facility with community health care professionals and full-time faculty to provide students with a real world learning environment. WVUH-East allows students from WVU Medical School, Marshall University School of Medicine and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine to spend their third and fourth years of medical school learning clinical skills directly from local physicians.
