Berkeley County Companies Receive Export Awards from Governor

Four Berkeley County companies were honored by Governor Joe Manchin May 27th in Charleston. Governor Manchin joined the West Virginia Export Council and the U.S. Department of Commerce to present the companies with the Governor’s Commendation for International Market Entry. Brentwood Industries, Chem-Pak Inc, DSI Mining Americas (formerly Fasloc Inc) and Power Sonix received awards. A total of 49 West Virginia businesses received the award for successfully exporting to a new country in the past year. >> Full Story

HMS Technologies is Fastest Growing Private Business in WV
HMS Technologies Inc. is in good company having been selected as one of Inc. Magazine's 500 fastest growing companies in the nation for 2009. That's because the Berkeley County-based firm will now join an exclusive list that has included such well-known companies as Microsoft and Oracle, firms that gained early exposure as members of the Inc.500 in previous years.

In this year's list, HMS Technologies, which has had a growth rate of 2,700 percent over the last four years and revenues totaling $22.6 million in 2008, was ranked the 45th fastest growing private company. Also according to Inc. Magazine, HMS Technologies is the No. 1 fastest growing privately held business in West Virginia. >>Full Story

Road Leads to the Future for Berkeley County Business Park
The new connector from U.S. 11 to the Interstate 81 Tabler Station exit south of Martinsburg is several months from being completed, but Berkeley County Development Authority executive director Stephen L. Christian was eager to tout the road’s partial opening this week. 

Connector Road Between Exit 8 of I-81 and U.S. 11 Set to Open Next Week
The first phase of a road project touted as key to development of Berkeley County’s Tabler Station Business Park south of Martinsburg is scheduled to open next week, the West Virginia Department of Transportation Division of Highways (DOH) announced Tuesday.
