October 15 - October 18
The Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival celebrates the apple industry- a valued part of the heritage of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Held every third weekend in October, it has become a treasured homecoming with festivities spanning over multiple days. The Festival draws visitors from within and beyond West Virginia, bringing foot traffic to downtown Martinsburg, local lodging, restaurants, shops, and vendors across Berkeley County. It serves as a signature event that helps boost visibility and revenue for area businesses. By spotlighting orchardists, apple growers, food artisans, craft vendors, and related industries, the Festival helps connect consumers and producers, promoting farm-to-fork awareness and local business relationships. Festival programming includes contests (apple pie baking, apple peeling/eating, photography, art), pageantry (Queen Pomona, and Baby Appleseed), a “Fall Classic” event honoring student athletes, a Grand Feature Parade, pop-up shops & arts fair, pancake breakfasts, a 5K “Apple Trample,” Rodeo, Gala and more. These events provide opportunities for local youth, families, and civic groups to participate, volunteer, or benefit.
